The Birth of a King

Dec 14, 2025    Don Chandler

In this Christmas message from Book of Isaiah chapter 9, Bro. Don places Isaiah’s prophecy against the sweeping history of Israel, from Abraham through the divided kingdom and the Assyrian threat, highlighting a cycle of blessing, rebellion, judgment, and repentance. Into a time of deep national darkness, Isaiah declares hope: “For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given.” Bro. Don emphasizes the distinction between Christ’s humanity and deity, explaining the virgin birth and incarnation as God’s providential fulfillment of centuries of promise. The coming King is presented as marvelous in how He came and majestic in who He is, bearing four exalted names: Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, and Prince of Peace. He is the wise guide who corrects humanity’s fall, the warrior God who defends His people, the eternal Father who provides, and the true source of lasting peace. Bro. Don also looks ahead to Christ’s future reign, when the government will rest upon His shoulders and His rule will be complete, eternal, and empowered by the zeal of the Lord. Concluding with a call to worship and response, he urges listeners to look beyond seasonal traditions to the cross and the ultimate gift of redemption found in the promised King.
