Lesson Five
In this sermon from John 15:7–11, part of a discipleship series, Bro. Don centers on Jesus’ declaration, “I am the true vine,” calling believers to authentic, full-time commitment to Christ by abiding in Him. Drawing from Gospel of John, he explains that abiding means remaining closely connected to Christ through prayer, studying God’s Word, obedience, and wholehearted pursuit of Him. When believers abide, they experience both confidence and abundance: answered prayer aligned with God’s will, a life that glorifies the Father, and the visible fruit of the Spirit. True discipleship is evidenced not merely by attendance or outward faithfulness, but by obedience that produces spiritual fruit and reflects Christ’s sacrificial love. The result of this abiding relationship is not fleeting happiness but enduring joy—the very joy of Christ filling and overflowing in believers despite adversity—empowering them to evangelize, encourage others, and live as radiant witnesses of God’s grace.
