If Salt Loses Its Taste?

Jun 21, 2026    Don Chandler

In this message from the Questions series, Bro. Don takes up the question Jesus poses in Matthew 5:13: if salt loses its saltiness, what good is it? He opens by walking through the Beatitudes as the foundation for understanding what it means to be salt, reminding us that the characteristics Jesus describes are not suggestions but assignments. Bro. Don then explores the properties of salt and how each one applies to the life of a believer. Salt preserves, holding back decay just as the Holy Spirit restrains evil in our world today. Salt penetrates, becoming inseparable from whatever it touches, just as the early church infiltrated the known world with the gospel. Salt purifies, bringing cleansing influence into homes, schools, and workplaces. Salt promotes thirst, drawing others to hunger and thirst for what believers have in Christ. And salt produces change, flavoring and adding value to everything around it.
