Hiding Spot

In this message, Matthew Mooningham opens vulnerably about his own tendency to hide from God in seasons of sin and spiritual inconsistency, then walks through Genesis 3 to show that this pattern is as old as humanity itself. He traces five movements in the passage: dwelling with God, the whisper of temptation, the moment of choice, the act of sin, and the shame and excuses that follow. Matthew challenges the college group that the shame we feel after sin is not from God but from ourselves, and that too often we overcomplicate the way back when the answer is simply to return to the Word and to prayer. He closes with Psalm 51 and a powerful illustration about a king who takes the punishment meant for his daughter, pointing back to the cross as the reason we never have to stay hidden.
