The Confidence of Elijah

In this third message of the Walking By Faith series, Bro. Don takes us to the brook Cherith, where God prepared Elijah for the great confrontation at Mount Carmel. He opens by establishing Elijah as a common man, just like us, whose power came not from his own abilities but from fervent prayer and obedience before God. He then walks through four movements in the passage, Elijah's bold demeanor before King Ahab, God's directive to go hide himself by the brook, the miraculous provision of food brought daily by ravens, and the eventual drying up of the brook. Bro. Don draws out the powerful lesson that God uses seasons of separation and dependence to prepare us for the battles ahead, and that when one brook dries up, God always has another supply ready. He closes by connecting this passage to chapter 18, reminding us that the man who hid himself by faith was the same man God sent to call down fire from heaven, challenging us to trust God in our own dry seasons rather than panic.
